AWWA/WEF The Utility Management Conference™
Top Water Utility Leaders Gather to Share Experiences, Strategies & Insight
Each year, water utility executives and managers keep returning to the Utility Management Conference (UMC). This gathering offers forward-thinking leadership, creative strategic planning, efficient processes, and holistic approaches to ongoing improvement efforts.
Three reasons why utility leaders should attend this prestigious event:
- Gain insight from leadership peers. This conference attracts top executives and managers across all water utility departments. Get the view from the top of what is really working.
- Prepare for the future. Learn how utilities can adapt to climate change, fix aging infrastructure, achieve digital transformation, leverage funding options, and address other evolving considerations.
- Develop the next generation of utility leaders. UMC is co-located with the Young Professionals Summit and features some joint events. Do not miss this opportunity to inspire and guide future utility leaders.

PCW01 — Empowering Leaders: Tools to Boost Awareness, Inspire, Mobilize, Implement, and Adapt to Large System-Level Changes (Full Day, includes lunch)
Members: $270 | Non-members: $370
Empower your leadership with tools to navigate change. This workshop offers strategies to improve awareness, co-create inspiring plans, mobilize teams, and drive system-level implementation. Gain confidence to align changes with your values and community needs while managing risks. Join us to enhance your capacity for leading effective, large-scale transformations.
PCW02 — Crafting the Future: Building a 75-Year Strategic Plan for Water Utilities (Full Day, includes lunch)
Members: $270 | Non-members: $370
A five-year plan is a work plan, not a strategic plan. A utility’s strategic plan should cover 75 years at least. What does that take? This session will explore the development of a generational plan that focuses on all matters of significance: water supply, infrastructure replacement, affordability, fiscal sustainability, technology adoption, environmental concerns, and community engagement.
PCW03 — A Progressive Approach to Developing a Practical and Sustainable Maintenance and Reliability Program (Full Day, includes lunch)
Members: $270 | Non-members: $370
Maintenance and reliability best practices provide structured methodologies to address aging infrastructure, knowledge retention, financial constraints, and performance needs. This workshop will walk attendees through a progressive approach to establishing and implementing a practical and sustainable maintenance and reliability program.
PCW04 — Advancing Automation, Analytics, and AI through “Human in the Loop” — WRF 5189 and WRF 5178 (Half-Day)
Members: $140 | Non-members: $245
Are you the CEO or senior leader, planner, engineer, operator, and or a technician? Are you feeling the digital/AI fatigue from too much jargon? Then attend this workshop on human-centric principles and less about technology. Learn from your peers on the practical steps through case studies and hand-on activities to plan and advance data-driven initiatives within your organization.
PCW05 — Navigating Decision-Making Across Utility Governance Models (Half Day)
Members: $140 | Non-members: $245
This workshop explores utilities’ challenges and opportunities in delivering critical services, with utility type influencing strategic decisions. Participants will learn about how governance is defined and how various governance models affect organizational structure, regulation, financial management, and workforce development.
PCW06 — The Only Thing Constant is Change: Tips to Ensure your Organization is Driving Change and Adoption (Half Day)
Members: $140 | Non-members: $245
Utilities are facing challenges that add complexity to how they manage work, which forces them to operate differently. There are industry best practices used as effective frameworks to resolve these challenges. However, they do not adequately address the people side of change when implementing solutions. A disciplined approach to managing change is a key driver to achievement of desired outcomes.
PCW07 — Updates to Customer Service Training: Customer Service as Professionals (Half Day)
Members: $140 | Non-members: $245
Our customer service training is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and skills aimed at improving customer service within the water industry. The training covers updates, an overview and practical cases, and workshop exercises of the Customer Service Training Program. It does not include certification.
