AWWAIndia Association (AIA)
As one of our essential international programs, AWWAIndia Association (AIA) was established in 2021 as an incorporated nonprofit to continue AWWA’s mission. India is on pace to become one of the world’s largest populated countries, where a majority of its 1.3 billion people face a lack of access to safe drinking water. Our focus is to ensure that our cornerstone services remain, as emphasis is placed on essential programs around knowledge exchange and transfer.

AWWA Student Chapter in Peru Celebrates Recent Accomplishments
AWWA is eager to grow engagement with students and Universities around the world.
AWWA has active student chapters outside North America, serving as key entry points for future water professionals. At Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI) in Peru, students kicked off the school year by joining the AWWA Chapter-to-Chapter Meet-Up on September 17, and being featured in a recent Connections article.
The UNI chapter seeks to enhance water education through field visits, including Lima’s Provisur Desalination Plant, La Atarjea, Peru’s largest drinking water plant, and Taboada, South America’s largest wastewater facility. Chapter president Karla Durand Hurtado highlighted how these experiences enrich the curriculum and strengthen technical and professional training.

AWWAIndia Association to host AICE25 in Indore
AWWAIndia will host the 4th Annual International Conference & Exhibition (AICE) in the historic and vibrant city of Indore from December 8 – 10, 2025.
The conference will feature presentations, workshops and interactive panels with nationally and internationally recognized dignitaries, speakers and experts covering water resilience, asset management, policy frameworks, smart cities and more. AWWAIndia hosts conferences like AICE to continue to foster important dialogues and establish local solutions to promote a “Better India Through Better Water”.

International Council
The International Council (IC) exists as one of six councils governing AWWA. It works to actively promote AWWA participation in the global water community through its three Strategic Goals:
- Goal 1: Leverage strategic partnerships to enhance opportunities for global water professionals to create and exchange knowledge.
- Goal 2: Improve access to knowledge products and educational content for international water professionals.
