The Partnership for Safe Water Summit is dedicated to advancing excellence in water utility management, operations, and performance. It brings together water professionals to share their experiences, knowledge, and innovative ideas through presentations and case studies. The summit provides a platform for discussing critical topics such as water reuse, disinfection byproducts, and regulatory compliance. This year’s event will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Partnership Programs, highlighting their impact since their inception in 1995.

The Partnership for Safe Water Summit will offer participants two days of lessons from high-performing utilities, strategies for building resilient teams, and insights into emerging trends like AI and water reuse. Attendees will gain practical tools, hear real-world case studies, and connect with peers committed to advancing water system excellence.
Pre-Conference Facility Tours
Meeting Location & Transportation
- Meet at: Kentucky International Convention Center – Bus Loading Area (located on Market Street)
- Check-in and boarding: Begins at 7:30 a.m.
- Badge Distribution: To expedite the boarding process, your badges will be pre-printed and distributed as you board the bus
- Bus departs Convention Center: 8:30 a.m. (sharp)
- Return to Convention Center: Approximately 4:30 p.m.
Attire and Preparation:
- Closed shoes and long pants required. Portions of the tour will be outside, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
- Please bring a valid ID
- Don’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle and backpack for convenience.

- 8:00 a.m. Check-in and boarding at Kentucky International Convention Center bus pickup location
- 8:30 a.m. Departure from the Convention Center (approx. 10-15 minute drive)
- 8:45 a.m. Arrival at Louisville Water Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant
- 9:00 a.m. Tour of Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant
- 11:15 a.m. Gather at bus loading area
- 11:30 a.m. Departure from Louisville Water Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant (approx. 7-10 minute drive to Louisville Water Tower)
- 11:45 p.m. Arrival at Louisville Water Tower
- 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch
- 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Pump Station Tour
- 1:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Strategic Partnerships Session
- 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Water & Bourbon Tasting and Q&A Session
- 3:45 p.m. Gather at Louisville Water Tower bus loading area
- 4:00 p.m. Departure from Louisville Water Tower (approx. 10-15 minute drive to Convention Center)
- 4:15/4:30 p.m. Drop-off at Convention Center
Lunch Selection: As this is a full-day tour, lunch will be provided for all attendees.
Partnership Workshop: Attendees will learn about the value of “partnerships” in protecting our liquid assets and how consumer research compliments water quality testing to strengthen public trust. Attendees will learn about Louisville Water’s collaboration efforts on source water protection in the Ohio River basin and the benefits of partnerships for protecting water quality. Plus, see how Louisville Water partners with the local community to tell its story, build its brand, and help drive economic development.
Crescent Hill Water Treatment Facility: Attendees will visit the historic Crescent Hill Reservoir and Gatehouse, constructed in 1879, and still in operation today. They will also tour the Crescent Hill Filter Plant, constructed in 1909 and home to some of George Warren Fuller’s very first sand filters.
Louisville Water Tower: Attendees will visit the place where Kentucky’s drinking water story began. They’ll see one of the last remaining Allis Steam engines in the nation, explore the WaterWorks Museum, and sample two of Kentucky’s finest drinks: Louisville Pure Tap and Angel’s Envy Bourbon.
