The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world. AWWA believes that every water professional deserves to feel empowered and have the tools and resources necessary to provide their communities with safe and clean water. That is why, since 1881, we have supported our members with knowledge, guidance, and community.

Organizational membership comes with a set number of memberships you can allocate to staff.

Section Membership

Employees holding assigned membership will receive membership in their local Section along with their AWWA membership.

Alerts, Advisories, & Insider Newsletter

Receive biweekly newsletters for organizational members feature the latest inside information on AWWA’s regulatory and legislative work along with developing stories from across the sector.

Journals & Magazines

Employees holding assigned memberships will receive digital and print subscriptions to AWWA’s award-winning publications – Journal AWWA, Opflow, and AWWA Water Science.

AWWA/ANSI Standards

Digital access to AWWA’s Standards through envoi, the comprehensive library of technical content. Any employee with an AWWA membership will also receive access.

  • Operations and administrative staff below the supervisory level at utilities with more than 1,000 connections OR

  • Young Professional Membership (<35 yrs) – $99 + Section Dues
  • Operator/Administrator Membership – $79 USD + Section Dues
  • Individual Membership – $240 + Section Dues
  • International Membership – $68 to $240 USD

Organizational Membership Pricing:

  • Utility Membership – $2,280 to $25,480 + Section Dues
  • Small System Membership (<5k services connections) – $375 + Section Dues
  • Service Provider Membership – $1,660 to $9,710 + Section Dues
  • Partner Agency Membership – $1,800 + Section Dues

Here are some common questions we receive about our membership options. If you have a question that is not addressed here, please reach out to service@awwa.org for assistance.

How Will I Be Billed for My Membership?

All memberships are billed annually with member renewal each year. You will receive a reminder to renew your membership a few weeks before it expires.

Can My Employer Reimburse My Membership Fees?

Your employer offering reimbursement is up to them! Show them the benefits of an AWWA membership on our benefits page.

Are Group Discounts Available for Membership?

Yes, organizational memberships are available for utilities, small systems, service providers, and partnership agencies. If your organization falls under one of these categories, please contact us for more information.

I’m not sure if my employer is a member of AWWA. How do I find out?

If you’re unsure whether your employer is an AWWA member, you can check by emailing customer service through the link below. If they are a member, please follow up with your employer about the benefits you have through their membership and reimbursement for your membership fees.

I have an AWWA account, but I’m not sure if I am a member. How do I find out?
