Water sector gathers in Denver for AWWA’s ACE25 to elevate future of water
The American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) 144th Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE25) opened its doors today at the Colorado Convention Center. More than 10,000 water professionals from across the globe have arrived to collaborate on shaping a resilient future and advancing standards across the water community.
ACE25, centered on the theme “Elevate,” provides attendees with practical insights and cutting-edge solutions to the most pressing water challenges. Through June 11, the conference features 22 professional tracks, 147 sessions, and more than 440 presenters exploring an array of water sector topics. The exhibit hall also highlights the latest innovations from more than 450 water technology providers showcasing their solutions in more than 1,100 booths.
During today’s Opening General Session, keynote speaker Kathryn Sorensen, director of research at the Kyl Center for Water Policy at Arizona State University and former director of Phoenix Water Services and Mesa Water Resources, addressed attendees. Her remarks focused on the complexities of water service delivery and the unwavering dedication of water professionals who continually rise to meet the sector’s challenges.
“Working through chaos is not new,” Sorensen said. “Our duties, our jobs, our responsibilities do not change in times of unrest and uncertainty. If anything, we step up to the plate and do more, because water is that important. Be constant.”
AWWA President Cheryl Porter also spoke, emphasizing the importance of developing future leaders and empowering the next generation of water professionals.
“I am convinced that our best strategy for overcoming future challenges is to prepare the leaders of tomorrow and trust them,” Porter said.
