Celebrate Drinking Water Week this May

Drinking Water Week returns May 3-9, giving utilities, communities, and businesses a chance to celebrate the world’s most vital resource: safe, reliable tap water that people rely on every day but may not think about often.

Led annually by AWWA, the week-long observance highlights the role of drinking water in everyday life and the expertise of the professionals who ensure it is delivered safely to communities around the clock.

AWWA encourages its members to use Drinking Water Week as an opportunity to connect with their communities and shine the spotlight on the work that goes into delivering safe drinking water. Utilities and organizations often mark the week through facility tours, classroom visits, social media campaigns, art contests, and other local outreach activities.

To support these efforts, AWWA offers a free downloadable Drinking Water Week toolkit. Resources include:

  • Campaign logos.
  • Sample social media posts.
  • Mayoral and gubernatorial proclamation templates.
  • An updated local influencer engagement guide.
