AWWA highlights commitment to global water security, sustainability at AWWAIndia’s International Conference & Exhibition 2023

JAIPUR, India – Leaders from the American Water Works Association (AWWA) are participating in the AWWAIndia Association’s (AIA) second annual International Conference & Exhibition (AICE 2023), which began today at Hotel Lalit, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. This year’s two-day conference focuses on “Water Security & Sustainability.” 

In collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, AICE 2023 serves as a pivotal gathering for water professionals worldwide, underscoring AWWA’s enduring commitment to advancing safe and clean water globally. 

Aligned with AWWA’s overarching vision, AIA’s mission is to modernize and enhance technical parameters in water infrastructure development. This initiative supports the “New India” concept and strives to make India a “Better Water Country by 2047.” 

“In a world where water sustainability and security are shared concerns, AWWA is proud to support our partners’ efforts in India,” said AWWA CEO David LaFrance. “We believe that together, we can make a significant impact on India’s water sustainability and security.” 

AWWA’s engagement in India through AIA encompasses key objectives: 

  • Enhancing knowledge exchange and capacity building in water system operations. 
  • Advocating for certification and licensing of water professionals. 
  • Collaborating with public and private sectors to drive policy development for India’s water sector. 

AICE 2023 features an extensive agenda encompassing critical topics such as achieving round-the-clock water supply, urban and rural water management, water pollution and quality, water conservation, climate change’s impact on water resources and more. Special sessions on the role of women in water management and exploring emerging technologies in the water sector are also featured.
