AWWA Comment Period on ANSI/AWWA D115 - Tendon-Prestressed Concrete Water Tanks October 6, 2023 AWWA solicits public comments on all proposed new AWWA Standards, and on all proposed revisions, reaffirmations, or withdrawals of existing AWWA Standards. The referenced standards project is being considered for approval and the publication of this notice begins the 45-day public comment period for AWWA and ANSI. An electronic public review copy of the proposed standard can be obtained for review during the comment period by emailing ETS Support . Comments must be submitted in writing to the AWWA contact listed below no later than the last day of the comment period specified herein. Such comments shall be specific to the section(s) of the standard under review and include sufficient detail so as to enable the reader to understand the commenter's position, concerns and suggested alternative language, if appropriate. SCOPE This standard describes current and recommended practice for the design, construction, and field observations of concrete tanks using internal tendons for prestressing. This standard applies to containment structures for use with potable water, raw water, or wastewater. MAJOR REVISIONS 1. The PCI Design Handbook (PCI MNL-120) has been added as a viable reference for design where it does not conflict with ACI 350 and this standard (Sec. 3.2). 2. For floor design, criteria for subgrade compaction have been updated (Sec. 3.6.4). 3. For earthquake design considerations, criteria for vertical forces at the wall bases have been modified (Sec. 4.4.6). 4. Qualifications for supervisors and field installers of prestressing tendons have been updated (Sec. 18.104.22.168). 5. ACI 308.1 has been added as a reference for concrete curing (Sec. 22.214.171.124). 6. Field preparation criteria for foundation construction have been added (Sec. 5.2.8). 7. Observation and inspection criteria have been moved from the appendix to Section 7 of the standard and expanded. 8. A section on safety with reference to OSHA requirements has been added (Sec. 7.7).
