Mark Kirkland Appreciation Award
History of the Award
This award was established to honor the legacy Mark Kirkland by recognizing outstanding service and volunteerism by an individual within the water operator community and its annual competitions. This award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the mission of the Operator Involvement Committee, highlighting their significant contributions and accomplishments that inspire contribution, teamwork, and excellence.
Mark Kirkland Award is presented annually by the Operator Involvement Committee to a selected member who demonstrates distinguished service and volunteerism in support of water operators, which characterized the life and service of Mark Kirkland.
Purpose of the Award
To recognize and honor outstanding service and long-time commitment to the operator profession and AWWA’s Operator Involvement Committee.
Eligibility for the Award
The award is open to an Operator Involvement Committee member, volunteer or participant who has demonstrated outstanding contribution to the operator profession and AWWA’s Operator Involvement Committee. Must be a member of AWWA at the time of receiving the award.
The Award
A crystal award accompanied by a personalized inscription to honor recognizing the recipient’s contributions.
Frequency of the Award
One award annually.
Nomination Procedure
A nomination for the award may be submitted by an AWWA member to awards@awwa.org.
Nomination or Submission Deadline
February 1
Award Committee Membership
This award Committee shall consist of members of the Operator Involvement Committee.
Method of Selecting Award Recipient
The Mark Kirkland Appreciation Award Committee shall select a recipient from the list of potential candidates. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis on their impact on water operators and contributions to the Operator Involvement Committee.
Presentation of the Award
The award will be presented at the Breakfast for Champions during AWWA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE). Awardees will also be recognized at the ACE awards luncheon.
