Opflow 50th Celebration
Opflow 50th Celebration
Congratulations to Opflow!
AWWA is celebrating 50 years of publishing Opflow, beginning with the January/February 2024 issue (Vol. 50, No. 1)!
Opflow debuted in 1975 as an eight-page newsletter. Its consistent popularity among AWWA’s members and increased advertising revenue prompted AWWA to redesign Opflow in July 2006, making it the award-winning magazine you’re familiar with today.
Opflow presents new and established technologies and ideas that readers can apply to water treatment and distribution as well as wastewater operations.
Although a lot has changed over the years, it’s amazing how much has stayed the same.
- Opflow has published articles written by operators for operators since the magazine’s first issue. Opflow continues to cover a wide range of new and established technologies that members can apply to water treatment and distribution as well as wastewater operations.
- Recognizing that certified operators are a vital part of providing an adequate, safe supply of water, AWWA debuted Certification Corner, Opflow’s quiz section, in the first issue. Now AWWA has a range of resources to help individuals become certified operators and existing operators advance their careers. To learn more, visit the association’s Operators Resources page.
- Turning problems into solutions is what operators do every day, and those solutions have been highlighted in Opflow’s Gimmicks & Gadgets section since the magazine’s first issue. The section’s popularity is reflected in the annual Gimmicks & Gadgets Contest, which allows operators to share their inventions and success stories with readers. Explore a list of past winners, along with contest rules and guidelines on the Gimmicks & Gadgets Award page.
Remember that all of Opflow’s content, as well as content from Journal AWWA and AWWA Water Science, is archived online. Be sure to dive in online here to access the association’s journals and magazines anytime, anywhere to stay current on water topics.
