CA-NV Section achieves prestigious international accreditation for certification programs
The California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association (CA-NV AWWA) has achieved international accreditation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) National Accreditation Board (ANAB) for two certification programs.
The programs, Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) and Cross-Connection Control Specialists (CCCS), were granted accreditation on June 20. CA-NV AWWA is the first drinking water organization to receive the ISO/IEC 17024:2021 Standard accreditation under the international standard for certifying bodies.
Backflow prevention assemblies protect public water distribution systems from contaminants and pollutants that may potentially flow from residential, commercial, industrial and agriculture water users. Cross-connection control programs identify and eliminate unintentional connections between drinking water (potable water) and recycled or wastewater (nonpotable water).
“By obtaining the BPAT and CCCS certifications from CA-NV AWWA, knowledgeable and skilled water professionals can play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of water safety and quality in our communities,” said Sue Mosburg, executive director of CA-NV AWWA.
“This prestigious accreditation reinforces our commitment to excellence and being a trusted authority in the water sector,” she added. “Getting to this point was a long process and we would not have been able to meet this huge milestone without the continued support of our members and volunteers.”
