AWWA’s Opflow magazine receives national publishing award

Opflow, the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) magazine for operators, recently received a fourth consecutive national award recognizing excellence in publishing. 

The annual APEX Awards, hosted by Communications Concepts, are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.

This year, Opflow earned an Award of Excellence for a three-part series about advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) that was covered in the January/February, March, and April 2021 issues (see article titles and links below). The series was written by Joey Mitchell, vice president at Utility Metering Solutions (UMS). It focused on helping readers achieve the full potential and far-reaching benefits of AMI by selecting the right system and deploying a thoughtful strategy. Opflow also received awards for magazine series in 2020 and 2019. 

“Helping educate utilities to achieve their best operating potential and ensuring they are equipped to support future innovation is core to our focus at UMS, and AWWA is a great partner for us to share that knowledge,” Mitchell said. “AWWA’s publications and events provide a trusted resource for those in the water industry to learn from those whose experience and hard-won lessons can smooth the path to their own advanced metering projects and more.”

AWWA has published on the science and technology of water for more than 100 years. Opflow, Journal AWWA, and AWWA Water Science provide timely information and research to help water professionals protect public health and provide safe water.
