Established in 1881, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) is the largest nonprofit, scientific and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water, the world’s most important resource. With over 50,000 members, representing the full spectrum of the water community, AWWA is dedicated to providing total water solutions. AWWA has extended its knowledge and experience to assist the water industry globally for the maximum utilization of resources, and effective distribution of clean water.
Creating a better world through better water has long been the vision of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). By sharing resources with water partners across the globe, both in-person and virtually, the Association has realized the benefits of exchanging knowledge and providing forums for international water professionals to discuss innovative practices.
AWWAIndia Association will build on the foundation created by AWWAIndia by focusing on advancing water utility management practices in India. AWWAIndia Association has established the following objectives:
- Increase opportunities to create, exchange and transfer knowledge and build capacity to improve the operations of water systems in India.
- Support nationally-recognized certification/licensing of water professionals from engineers to operators. Leverage resources to provide greater value to water professionals in India.
- Work in partnership with the public and private sectors to advance and enhance policy development for the water sector in India.
“AWWAIndia Association is in a unique position to bring life-saving knowledge to India, the world’s largest democratic country,” said a member of AWWAIndia Association’s board of directors. “India is on pace to become one of the world’s largest populated countries, with a huge need for proper management of water utilities and full-time, round-the-clock availability of water supply for the general population.
