Course Description: Water storage tanks are generally the most visible and valuable assets in a water distribution system. Basic water quality within the distribution system can succeed or fail based on the condition and operation of a water storage tank. This course covers the components of an effective water tank condition assessment, strategies for maintaining water quality in a storage tank, and how to develop a comprehensive asset management program as a viable option to traditional tank maintenance and procurement methods.
- Describe the components of a comprehensive water storage tank assessment and asset management program.
- Explain the importance of mixing within water tanks and review some of the available approaches to tank mixing.
- Describe how tank mixing, chemical cleaning, and asset management programs work together synergistically to assist in managing water quality and Stage 2 Disinfection
- Apply lessons learned from the operational experiences of Massachusetts Water Resources Authority.
