Course Description: Simple steps can be taken early to improve and maintain overall distribution system quality while minimizing staff time and effort. This course presents you with important distribution system issues, such as proper planning for pipeline installation, a sound fire hydrant maintenance program, tank cleaning and valve inspections, and a strategic flushing program to alleviate future problems.
- Compare the advantages and disadvantages of different hydrant types and troubleshoot common hydrant problems.
- Follow correct procedures in excavation of utilities during pipeline construction.
- Determine the advantages of in-house construction.
- Identify methods to minimize adverse effects of distribution systems on water quality.
