Course Description: From this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of conventional (chlorine-based) and alternative methods (ozone and chemical biocide) for the disinfection of pipelines and water storage tanks. You will also discover effective distribution system operations and the maintenance strategies for retaining chlorine residuals. In addition, you will also explore water operations best practices for minimizing water age and water quality degradation in distribution systems.
- Apply the AWWA Standards for pipeline and tank disinfection.
- Identify the most appropriate process for pipeline disinfection for your system.
- Explain the importance of properly cleaning pipelines to remove sediment prior to disinfection.
- Identify potential problems with water quality in tanks and distribution systems, and provide solutions to maintain water quality to the customer's tap.
