Oversees all Washington, D.C., activities of AWWA including all federal affairs, liaison with other organizations, and representation of AWWA as required.
In partnership with volunteers, Steve leads in the development of activities to initiate, evaluate, respond and comment on regulatory, security and related matters within the framework of association policy.
Analyzes a wide range of regulatory and policy issues related to drinking water, with a particular emphasis on source water protection, energy policy, cyanotoxins, and climate change, and consumer confidence reports.
Manages utility security and preparedness initiatives including the Water & Wastewater Agency Response Networks. Also handles perchlorate issues.
Supports implementation of the association’s legislative priorities by communicating with Congress and monitoring legislative developments, with a particular focus on funding and appropriations.
Analyzes a range of technical, regulatory and policy issues related to drinking water, with a particular emphasis on PFAS, Legionella, and lead and copper.
