Water is crucial to the world’s human and environmental existence. The global water challenges organizations, professionals, leaders and scientists to unite and share knowledge and expertise. AWWA members hail from many countries and as the largest water association in the world we aim to drive the exchange of knowledge for improving the practice, elevating the standards and advancing the cause of safe and clean water.

Fostering innovation through our services and activities contributes to the improvement of water management worldwide. Our conferences, workshops, publications, online resources for water professionals provide best practices to the water sector at large. By working with partner agencies and organizations world-wide AWWA wants to provide our international members an avenue to influence and shape the discussion on global water issues.

Access events in North America and beyond that provide global perspectives and collaboration between policymakers, utilities, practicing engineers and academicians to find innovative solutions for the challenges facing the water industry.

Presentations

In 2011, G. Tracy Mehan, who joined AWWA as Executive Director of Government Affairs in 2015, delivered remarks on The American Experience Managing Water Quality to a group of Chinese leaders in development participating in a program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

Mehan, who at the time was a principal at The Cadmus Group Inc. after serving a stint as Assistant Administrator for Water at the US Environmental Protection Agency, described the evolution of U.S. water quality policy and law with the aim of helping Chinese leaders reconcile economic growth with improved environmental protection.
