Improving Distribution System Water Quality Through Modeling

Join this presentation to learn how your distribution system model can be extended to predict water quality from disinfectant concentrations to disinfection byproduct fate. Case studies from simple to complex water quality modeling will be presented.
Many utilities maintain hydraulic models of their water distribution systems. Often then will use them to simulate water age as a surrogate to estimate areas with reduced water quality. However, modeling platforms have varying levels of water quality modeling that can be performed—from simple first order disinfectant decay modeling to complex multi-species modeling of disinfection byproducts. This webinar, sponsored by the Engineering Modeling Applications Committee, will discuss how utilities can gain value from their distribution system models by extending them to simulate water quality, as well as provide multiple case studies of varying degrees of complexity.
