Registration FAQs

What does the AWWA Virtual Summit registration fee include? 
Our AWWA Virtual Summit registration is a flat fee and includes all educational sessions, workshops, and all other add-on events.

Are there any discounts available? 
If you register before the deadline, you receive the Early Bird discount which is $100 off the regular rate. We have intentionally kept rates low so that attendance is easy on your budgets. You can also register for both the February Virtual Summit on Sustainable Water, PFAS and Waterborne Pathogens and this one to get 20% off both events.

Do I have to register in advance, or can I register the day of? 
We encourage you to register in advance so that we can be sure to have plenty of bandwidth available. However, you can register the day of the event. 

Will I be able to interact with attendees and sponsors who are participating in the Virtual Summit?  
Yes, you will be able to chat with attendees and sponsors during the event days.

Can I share my meeting login with other members of my team? 
No, everyone waiting to view the Virtual Summit must register.

May I send someone in my place? 
Yes. Substitutes must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. (MT) on March 31, 2021. After March 31, 2021, no substitutions will be allowed. Email requests for substitutions or cancellations to service@awwa.org or fax request to 303.347.0804.
 
Will my contact information be automatically shared with the sponsors?
Yes, by registering for the event you have agreed to the Information Release Policy.

What shall I do if I am being discriminated or harassed during the event?
Inform AWWA by contacting educationservices@awwa.org. Refer to AWWA’s Code of Conduct.

Continuing Education FAQs

Will CEUs be available? 

30 days after the event, all attendees will have access to Certificates of Completion for sessions you attend in full. Acceptance of virtual programming is different in every state, and for every license. Many operator licensing agencies require live attendance on April 7-8 with actively demonstrated engagement through surveys, Q&A and other live interactions. All attendees must check with your state agency in advance to inquire about their requirements for your participation in an online conference event. A certificate of completion may not imply that your state agency will award credit.

To access your self-service certificate 30 days after the event, please:

  • Visit www.awwa.org 
  • Enter your Username and Password (or reset if forgotten)
  • Click on your name/profile from the top right of the screen 
  • Select "My Transcripts" from the left-hand menu 
  • Select "Download Certificate"

How will the sessions be presented? 
Sessions are presented in short, engaging segments. 

Will sessions be available after the event? For how long?
Sessions will be available to registered attendees for 30-days after the event. But you MUST be registered to view this content on-demand. Attendees will also be able to explore and interact with sponsor profiles for 30-days.  

Will the sessions be interactive?
Yes, you will be able to ask presenters questions and interact with other attendees within the session.

Which internet browser will provide me with the best experience?
Listed in order of preference: Google Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Can I turn on my webcam during the event?
No, attendees will not be able to use webcams.

Can I call in and listen to the technical sessions?
No, all technical sessions utilize PC and Smart Phone audio only.

Can I view the Virtual Summit on a mobile device?
Yes, all mobile devices are supported within the platform.

Can I test my system prior to the Virtual Summit?
Yes, test your system now.

The sound of my session and/or sponsor video is not working or very faint, what do I do?
Please make sure you have an up to date modern browser, that your speakers are connected, and the volume is turned on by clicking over to an alternate website (like YouTube).

Verify that your speakers are plugged into the power outlet, turned on and up, and connected to the audio port of the computer. Your speakers or headphones must be plugged into the sound card not into the sound out jack of the CD-ROM drive. If you still cannot hear any audio, check your system volume settings and the volume on the media player. If your system is properly set-up, then try adjusting the system volume settings:

  • Click Start, Settings, and then Control Panel.
  • Double-click on the Multimedia Icon.
  • On the audio tab, turn up the volume.

If it is grayed out, this is indication that the system is not configured for sound. 

The video I am watching stops, or it continually stops and buffers, what do I do?
Network congestion can occur at any time due to the following problems:

  • If you are connecting to the Internet through a slow connection, or over a congested wi-fi or cellular (mobile) network.
  • You are trying to access an event during peak Internet traffic hours.
  • If you are connecting to the Internet from a mobile device.
  • There is heavy traffic on your company network.

To alleviate network congestion, you may want to consider the following:

  • Upgrading to a faster connection
  • Minimize the amount of applications you are running while accessing the event
  • Try accessing the event during an off-peak Internet traffic period.
  • To alleviate these problems, consider reducing the amount of applications you have running. If you are accessing an on-demand event, try accessing the presentation later when network congestion may have lessened.

The sound is working, but the video freezes, what do I do?
This is usually because of network congestion. Network congestion manifests itself in different ways:

  • The sound works continuously, but the video freezes.
  • The program continually stops and rebuffers.
  • The player automatically stops, requiring you to click play again to resume.

Please refer to FAQ "The media player automatically stops or it continually stops and rebuffers" for reference on network congestion.

Pressing the “access session and/or sponsor” button doesn’t do anything, what do I do?
If you have a pop-up blocking software installed and it is active, it may be blocking the presentation console from opening. You many need to temporarily disable the pop-up blocking software in order to participate in the event.

When accessing the session and/or sponsor page, I cannot view the slides or the slides are not changing, what do I do?
Try refreshing the presentation by either hitting F5 on your keyboard or closing out and relaunching the presentation.

If you have joined a event, which has already started, please wait a few moments. The slides are either synchronized with the event and will flip with the next timed marker in the presentation or are user-controlled and can be flipped using controls located below the slides.

Virtual Summit Code of Conduct

AWWA is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and AWWA staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, AWWA staff members, service providers and all others are expected to abide by this Virtual Program's Code of Conduct.

This Policy applies to all AWWA meeting-related events, including those sponsored by organizations other than AWWA but held in conjunction with AWWA events, on public or private platforms.

AWWA has zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment by participants or our staff at our meetings. If you experience harassment or hear of any incidents of unacceptable behavior, AWWA asks that you inform us by contacting educationservices@awwa.org so that we can take the appropriate action.

Unacceptable Behavior is defined as:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
  • Verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, AWWA staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest.
  • Examples of verbal abuse include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, AWWA staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest.
  • Disruption of presentations during sessions, in the exhibit hall, or at other events organized by AWWA throughout the virtual meeting. All participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any AWWA virtual event staff.
  • Presentations, postings, and messages should not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services. AWWA reserves the right to remove such messages and potentially ban sources of those solicitations.
  • Participants should not copy or take screen shots of Q&A or any chat room activity that takes place in the virtual space. AWWA reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior, and AWWA reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting, virtually or in person.
