AWWA has added to its suite of materials available to download through AWWA’s website for this year’s Drinking Water Week celebration. Drinking Water Week is May 1-7, and the theme is “There When You Need It.” Additionally, AWWA is sponsoring a Drinking Water Week photo contest to increase awareness of and appreciation for safe, sustainable and affordable drinking water. The contest, which spans Drinking Water Week, begins May 1. Participants are encouraged to submit a photo of a moment when water is “There when you need it,” to enter the online contest. Participants earn points with additional engagements with AWWA’s social media platforms. Drinking Water Week materials can be used by members to engage with consumers, public officials and media about the reliability of drinking water and the professionals associated with delivering water from collection to consumption. The newest addition to the materials is an educational kids activity book ( English and Spanish ), which includes a crossword puzzle, word scramble, Mad Libs, Eye Spy, maze and word find. Additionally, parts of the book can be used as coloring pages. Materials available to download include: Logos Suggested social media posts Updated mayoral and gubernatorial proclamations Radio public service announcements Press releases that cover the following topics: The reliability of water professionals The reliability of water infrastructure to deliver tap water The reliability of high-quality drinking water Children’s activity sheets Children’s artwork contest details More resources, including classroom lessons for elementary and high school children, are available on DrinkTap’s Kid's Place .
