On November 13, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published the Lead and Copper Rule to the Federal Register, a proposed rule pertaining to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). Initially, the EPA set a deadline for public comments to be submitted by January 13, 2020. Following the publication of the rule, AWWA along with other organizations, requested that EPA extend the public comment period. Today, the EPA filed an update to the Federal Register extending the comment period by 30 days to February 12, 2020. Questions can be directed to Steve Via , AWWA's director of federal relations, or Greg Kail , AWWA's director of communications.
