AWWA statement on tragedy in Spartanburg, South Carolina

AWWA released the following statement:

“Our hearts are with Spartanburg Water in South Carolina after two employees were shot Thursday afternoon while working on a sewer pipe repair. Thankfully, both are in good condition. As we send best wishes for their full recovery, we express our deepest gratitude to the brave Spartanburg County deputy who was also wounded while responding at the scene, and to the other first responders who put themselves in harm's way. We are also grateful that several other Spartanburg Water employees on-site were uninjured in the incident. Sadly, we learned this morning that an employee of Charter Communications died in the shooting. AWWA extends its condolences to the Charter Communications family, the family of the victim, and all of those impacted by this tragic event.”
