AWWA releases new book: Tucson Water Turnaround

A new publication, Tucson Water Turnaround: Crisis to Success, written by Michael J. McGuire and Marie S. Pearthree with a foreword by water industry expert George Hawkins, is a case study on how to prevent potential issues that can result from changing water supplies or water treatment.

In the 1990s, Tucson Water changed water sources without considering the limitations of its existing distribution system or the taste and odor effects for customers. The new water caused pipe corrosion for customers and damaged the distribution system. The authors’ first-hand experiences, first-person recollections and newly unearthed records tell the story of how this situation developed and how it was resolved.

Tucson Water Turnaround: Crisis to Success can be purchased in the AWWA Store. The full publication is also available as a Kindle e-book, PDF download or as a PDF download and print set.
