The standard becomes an effective AWWA standard on the first day of the month following such publication in Journal - American Water Works Association

SCOPE
This standard delineates minimum requirements for reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) membrane systems for water and reclaimed water treatment systems.

MAJOR REVISIONS
Major revisions made to the standard in this edition include the following:
1. Remove membrane integrity testing equipment requirements (Sec 4.2.1).
2. Add membrane pressure vessels or other housings as required equipment (Sec 4.2.1).
3. Provide predicted permeate water quality and pressures over the predicted life of the membrane (Sec 4.3.1).
4. Remove membrane integrity testing description requirements by the supplier (Sec 4.3.1).
5. Remove automatic integrity testing description prior to manufacturing (Sec 4.3.2).
6. Add certificates of compliance as option for factory quality control testing prior to startup (Sec 4.3.3).
7. Water quality data usage revised from “required or optional” to design as needed basis (Sec 4.4.6).
8. Remove membrane integrity testing requirements (Sec 4.5.1).
9. Revise normalizations adjustments requirements to be in accordance with ASTM D4516 (Sec 4.5.1).
10. Clarify design requirements for pressure ratings and temperature variations of products and components (Sec 4.6.2 and Sec 4.6.3).
11. Revised material requirements for support systems (Sec 4.6.6.9).
12. Revised to include provisions for disposal of test water during demonstration testing (Sec 5.4.3) and performance testing (Sec 5.4.4).
