(DENVER) – The American Water Works Association has announced the winners of its annual Fresh Ideas Poster Competition for students that took place during AWWA’s Annual Conference & Exposition in Denver last week. The first-place winner is Amir Alansari representing AWWA’s North Carolina and South Carolina Sections for his poster entitled “Next-Generation Coagulation Optimization for Drinking Water Treatment Plants: A Case Study”. As first place winner, Alansari will receive $500 and the opportunity to write an article for Journal – American Water Works Association , AWWA’s flagship publication. The second-place winner is Carmen Velasco from AWWA’s Rocky Mountain Section for her poster entitled “Influence of pH on the Solubility of U(VI) and Natural Organic Matter in Laboratory Controlled Conditions”. The third-place winner is Ryan Hanson from AWWA’s Minnesota Section for his poster entitled “Generation of PFOS and PFOA from Cationic and Zwitterionic Precursors during Conventional Drinking Water Disinfection”.
