ASHRAE/USGBC/ASPE/AWWA 191P

AWWA has been participating in the development of a new standard of the America Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers. The standard is ASHRAE Standard 191P, Standard for the Efficient Use of Water in Building, Site and Mechanical Systems.

ASHRAE is the lead organization on the standard, with participation as cosponsors from AWWA, the US Green Building Council and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. The purpose of this standard is to provide baseline requirements for the design of buildings, site and mechanical systems that minimize the volume of water required to operate HVAC systems, plumbing systems and irrigation systems.

A draft of the standard is being made available for public review and public comment. The public review period for ASHRAE/USGBC/ASPE/AWWA Standard 191P is October 26 through December 10 (45 days). The draft will be posted on the ASHRAE website on October 26, along with instructions for submitting comments.

Interested AWWA members are encouraged to review the draft and submit comments or objections directly through the ASHRAE website.
