Spiders: high tech water catchers

02/04/2010: There's an interesting story on the BBC website today about how spider silk alters itself to catch water droplets, and how that technology might be used in future to develop man-made fibers that will help water collection in dry areas by stretching out nets, or canvas, on poles and using the mesh to catch moisture from mists or breezes. The runoff would then be collected in a pipe or a trough on the ground.    Read full post . . .

We joined the coalition

01/22/2010: If you follow such things, you might have seen the news yesterday that a coalition of elected officials, experts, organizations and other individuals met in Washington, DC on Wedneasday to call on Congress and the Obama Administration to create a National Infrastructure Bank (NIB) to help generate the investment needed for infrastructure projects of regional and national importance.    Read full post . . .
