This and ThatAWWA Water Matters Fly-inOver 91 section leadership volunteers participated in the AWWA Water Matters Fly-in, March 28-31, 2006, in Washington, D.C. These section volunteers had the opportunity to meet with their local Congressional representatives to discuss the "Value of Water," as well as local issues. Bookstore AllotmentDon't forget that each section receives a yearly $400 allotment to apply to any order placed through Section Services. That's $400 worth of material that you can order FREE OF CHARGE! Don't wait until December 31; plan and place your order now. Membership DirectoriesIf your section produces an electronic membership directory (i.e., CD or PDF file), please ensure that the information is locked and cannot be copied or exported to another electronic format. Regional Meeting of Section Officers (RMSO)Are you aware that you are welcome to attend any of these meetings? So, if the RMSO in your region doesn't work for your schedule, or you if you would just like to attend a meeting outside of your region, you are welcome to do so. You'll need to discuss this with your section board, and your Section Services Representative can provide you with additional meeting information. Section Branded LogoIn late 2001, AWWA embarked on a mission to create a more effective, unified brand and identity for the Association. Working with Monigle Associates, a comprehensive branding strategy was developed for AWWA and AWWA sections. Any section that chooses to participate in the program can implement the new design. This is strictly voluntary, with NO requirement for any section to implement the new design system. Take a minute to review the new branded look at these sections' web sites: New York Section, New England Water Works Association, A Section of AWWA, Pennsylvania Section, Atlantic Canada Water Works Association, A Section of AWWA, South Carolina Section. If your section would like more information about the section branding initiative, please contact Gary Sullivan, 303-347-6207, gsullivan@awwa.org.
Hershel Guttman atop Mount KilimanjaroNear dawn on February 16, 2006, Hershel Guttman, a past AWWA vice president and co-chair of the ACE Local Host Committee for Toronto 2007, summitted Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The mountain is the highest in Africa at 19,340'. Hershel got into high altitude mountain climbing while visiting AWWA headquarters when he was Director of the Ontario Water Works Association in the late 1990's, and is returning to Switzerland this summer to climb in the Alps again with Bob Willis, a past AWWA president. |
