PSW ACE 09 Award Photos

Approximately 85 attended the Partnership for Safe Water luncheon on June 15, 2009, during the AWWA Annual Conference in San Diego. Over 34 treatment plants were recognized this year. The International Water Treatment Alliance (IWTA) also recognized 5 award-winning plants.

The Partnership's Phase IV 'Excellence in Water Treatment' awardees were honored at the TEC Keynote Address immediately following the Partnership luncheon.  Over 400 were in attendance at the event. Below are the Partnership awardees.

Aurora Water's Wemlinger Water Treatment Plant
is the most recent Phase IV awardee. 

 

Aurora Water's Wemlinger Water Treatment Plant in Colorado is only the sixth utility in the nation to receive the Phase IV 'Excellence in Water Treatment Award'. Kevin Linder (above left) and Tim Smith (above center) from Aurora Water were presented the award by Cynthia Dougherty, US EPA Director of Ground Water & Drinking Water.

David Hardy and Gerard Yates from Central Utah Water Conservancy District accept the Five-Year Phase IV 'Excellence in Water Treatment Award' from the Partnership. The Utah Valley Water Treatment Plant in Orem, Utah, is only the second plant in the country to maintain the award for five years.

Cynthia Dougherty presented the Ten-Year Phase IV award to Jim Fay, Michael Barsotti and Thomas Bessette (pictured above, l to r) representing Champlain Water District (S. Burlington, Vermont). The Peter L. Jacob Water Treatment Plant has maintained the 'Excellence in Water Treatment Award' for ten years, and is the only water utility in the nation to do so.
