Abel Wolman Award of Excellence | An award of excellence to recognize those whose careers in the water works industry exemplify vision, creativity, and excellent professional performance characteristic of Abel Wolman's long and productive career. |
Academic Achievement Award | To encourage academic excellence and to give recognition to those graduate students who have made outstanding contributions to the field of public water supply through their work at a university. |
A.P. Black Research Award | This award was established in 1967 in honor of Dr. A. P. Black to recognize outstanding research contributions to water science and water supply rendered over an appreciable period of time. |
Archie E. Becher, Jr. Award | To honor the memory of Archie E. Becher, Jr. by recognizing outstanding accomplishments by a staff member of AWWA or Water For People. |
American/Canadian/Mexican Water Landmarks Award | To recognize and preserve an American, Canadian, or Mexican Water Landmark at least 50 years old that has had a direct and significant relationship with water's supply, treatment, distribution, or technological development. |
Award of Merit | To recognize achievement of those outside the water profession who have demonstrated outstanding service in support of the principles of AWWA in providing better water for people. |
Courageous Service Award | To recognize individuals who may not exactly fit the requirements of the Heroism Award, but are deserving of some type of recognition. These individuals may be credited with risking their own life by "staying at their post" in an effort to save their water supply. While these individuals may not have saved someone else, they certainly went "above and beyond" the call of duty. |
Distinguished Public Service Award | The award for Distinguished Public Service, established in 1951 in honor of Harry E. Jordan who served as Secretary of the Association from 1936 to 1959, is presented in recognition of distinguished public service outside the line of duty by an AWWA member. |
Diversity Award | To recognize the individual or organization that has created, promoted, and maintained diversity within an organization by establishing an environment that recognizes, encourages, and effectively utilizes each individual's talents. |
Division Best Paper Award | To annually recognize the author(s) of outstanding AWWA papers from each AWWA division published in Journal AWWA from July through June of the previous year. |
Exemplary Source Water Protection Award | To recognize water organizations in North America who have developed and are implementing exemplary source water protection programs. |
George Warren Fuller Award | George Warren Fuller Awards are presented annually by the AWWA to the sections' respective selected members for their distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the sound engineering skill . . the brilliant diplomatic talent . . . and the constructive leadership which characterized the life of George Warren Fuller. |
Gimmicks and Gadgets Award | Recognition of inventive creativity by individuals. |
Heroism Award | This award shall constitute official recognition of an act of heroism on the part of an employee(s) in the water utility profession wherein the rescuer in the process of aiding some other person or persons, must have placed himself/herself at great personal risk. |
Honorary Member Award | This award is presented each year to individuals "whose knowledge and accomplishments in the field of water supply entitle him/her to special recognition." An Honorary Member shall have all the rights and privileges of an Active Member and shall be exempt from paying dues. |
| Jack W. Hoffbuhr Award | To honor the legacy of Jack Hoffbuhr (retired Executive Director, AWWA) by recognizing outstanding performance and accomplishments by a Section staff member of AWWA. |
Ambassador Award | To provide national recognition of outstanding recruiters. |
Zenno A. Gorder Award | A membership award to recognize the individual member who recruited more new members than anyone else on an annual basis. |
Nicholas S. Hill, Jr. Award | A membership award to the section that achieves the greatest net percentage growth on an annual basis. |
Silver Presidential Award | To provide national recognition of outstanding recruiters and to offer incentives to recipients of the Ambassador Award to continue their efforts. |
Gold Presidential Award | To provide national recognition of outstanding recruiters and to offer incentives to recipients of the Ambassador Award to continue their efforts. |
Platinum Presidential Award | To provide national recognition of outstanding recruiters and to offer incentives to recipients of the Ambassador Award to continue their efforts. |
Recruiting Award | To recognize the section that achieves the greatest net increase in total members in one year. |
Section Membership Retention Award | To recognize the section that achieves the greatest overall membership retention rate. |
Section Membership Retention Growth Award | To recognize the section that achieves the greatest increase in membership retention rate from the previous year. |
Operator's Meritorious Service Award | To recognize special performance by operators for compliance with public health standards, plant maintenance, development of new ideas, training, outstanding achievement beyond normal operating responsibilities, and consistent operation of distribution lines, pumps stations, and reservoirs. |
Opflow Publications Award | To recognize the contribution to operating personnel of water utility systems in the areas of science, technology, and water supply operations as published in Opflow. |
Outstanding Service to AWWA Award | To recognize and honor a member of the American Water Works Association who has demonstrated outstanding service to the Association through leadership and active participation in AWWA programs. |
Public Communications Achievement Award | To recognize AWWA members and/or organizations for significant accomplishments in communication-educating the public, promoting awareness and understanding of water issues, establishing media relations, implementing community involvement programs, and inspiring others to model behavior with the public that builds trust and credibility. |
Publications Award | To annually recognize and honor the most notable contribution, scientific or practical, to the public water supply profession, as published in the Journal AWWA of the American Water Works Association. |
Recognition by AWWA for Service to the Water Profession | To recognize individuals, groups, or organizations who may be members or nonmembers of AWWA and have made significant contributions to the water profession. |
Wendell LaDue Utility Safety Award | The award, established in honor of Wendell R. LaDue, is presented to recognize distinguished safety programs by water utilities. |
Section Education Award | To recognize AWWA sections for initiatives that educate water profession personnel, the public, students, or other groups about drinking water and to disseminate guidelines that will enable other AWWA sections to conduct comparable educational activities. |
Section Small System Program Award | To recognize AWWA sections for initiatives that promote small system compliance, quality water service, and involvement in AWWA. Also to profile programs that will encourage other AWWA sections to conduct comparable small system activities. |
Service to the Water Industry Award | To recognize those organization members who have provided valuable support for AWWA programs and goals through their long-standing Association membership. |
Small System Best Column Award | To recognize annually the author(s) of outstanding small system columns published in Journal AWWA from July through June of the previous year. |
Water Industry Hall of Fame | To perpetuate the memory of those living and deceased who have made the most significant contributions to the field of public water supply. |
Water Science & Research Division Best Poster Award | To increase interest in participating in the Water Science & Research Division's annual conference poster session and to improve the quality of the posters. |
