Certificate Program for High-Tech Operators

33007Photo1.jpeg

This certificate program is aimed at providing operators with a fundamental understanding of the advanced technologies used in the water utility field.  This program consists of 3 two-day courses.  Each course addresses one general subject area.  Course 1 covers process monitoring and control of water treatment and distribution systems including SCADA; Course 2 covers high-tech applications and tools used throughout treatment and distribution systems including GPS and GIS; and Course 3 covers methods for managing water utility information.

Upon attending all 3 courses you will receive a certificate of completion, this certificate is not a license for  certification.

Here is how it works.....Any organization wishing to sponsor or host this program purchases the curriculum only (curriculum comes on a CD) from AWWA.  The training is then delivered on-site at a location of the sponsoring organization's choice, to your invited attendees (you can charge a registration fee if you'd like), by an instructor of your choosing familiar with the subject, or by an AWWA recommended instructor.

This certificate program is continuing education unit (CEU) worthy.  The sponsoring or host organization must apply to the state licensing agency where the training is being held for approval.

Customer Service Certificate Program

This certificate program will provide your customer service representatives (CSRs) and other utility staff the opportunity to meet the high standards expected by your customers. This training program is based on an AWWA publication called Focus First on Service: The Voice and Face of Your Utility (2007). Participants must complete the full training program to receive a certificate of completion. The curriculum, compromising three courses, totals approximately 27 hours of contact time. The three courses include

  • Course 1: Customer Relationship Building
  • Course 2: The Business of Customer Service
  • Course 3: Water Industry Operations

Here is how it works.....Any organization wishing to sponsor or host this program purchases the curriculum only (curriculum comes on a CD) from AWWA.  You then host the training on-site at a location of your choice, to your invited attendees (you can charge a registration fee if you'd like).  Only approved trainers will be allowed to teach the AWWA Customer Service Certificate Program.  Thus, you must hire an approved AWWA trainer, this includes paying the instructor's travel expenses and their required honorarium.  In order to become an approved AWWA trainer, a person must attend and complete AWWA Train-the-Trainer coursework.
