Who Attends Water Security Congress New Workshops Practical Valve Operation and Maintenance Workshop (AM Half-day)
Participants in this workshop will review the fundamentals of valve functions and condition assessment, as well as learn guidelines for valve sizing and selection. In addition, this course will present best practices for GPS use and system integration along with practical instruction on capturing, validating, and using valve information. This workshop will include various case studies and hands-on experience; tools and equipment will be provided. Back to Top Fire Hydrant Assessment, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs (PM Half-day)
The purpose of this half-day workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of a comprehensive fire hydrant assessment and maintenance program. After review of hydrant design, manufacturing, and installation, the workshop will focus on systemwide hydrant assessment and flow-testing program development. Additional topics covered include hydrant maintenance and repair, selection of proper tools and equipment, safety measures, and data collection and tracking procedures. Tools and equipment will be provided for the hands-on portion of this workshop. Back to Top RAMCAP for Water TTX: Application of J100 Standard (AM Half-day)
As critical national infrastructure, water and wastewater utilities must prepare for all-hazards – no matter how unlikely – that may affect their ability to maintain their mission to protect public health and the environment. Participants of this workshop will be provided with an overview of the new ANSI/ASME-ITI/AWWA J100-10 Risk Analysis and Management for Critical Asset Protection (RAMCAP®) Standard for Risk and Resilience Management of Water and Wastewater Systems, which provides the sector with an all-hazards method for mitigating risk and increasing resilience. The workshop will apply the seven-step RAMCAP process for identifying, analyzing, and managing risks associated with malevolent attacks and naturally occurring hazards to a model utility. This exercise will demonstrate how the application of the J100 standard facilitates resource allocations to maximize mitigation of risk associated with vulnerabilities and enhance resilience to expedite return to normal service after an incident. The application of common definitions, threats, and metrics for comparing risk, resilience, and risk management benefits allows decision makers to better allocate limited resources.
